5/5/2000 was formed in 1996 by Travis Ryan, of Cattle Decapition and the Monosource, and M.Kourie. The two began playing music together in Escondido, CA where they recorded and released their first two full length recordings.
In 1999 Accretions Records put out Fin, 5/5/2000's real debut to a world, which according to the band, would soon be swallowed by tidal waves and dust storms. The band went on to put together "In-Formation: A Tribute to throbbing Gristle" -a compilation of experimental artist paying their respect to the founders of industrial music.
In 2004 5/5/2000 released a live split cd with Germany's Pizurlaun. The cd was joint release with German label Dioxin City Productions. The cd was released in Europe only but copies are available through The Daft Alliance and Aquarius Records.
In 2006 San Diego based Post Replica Records release Reflectionen Musique. The cd featured three live tracks recorded during the late nineties.The two are currently recording new material for a new project to replace 5/5/2000"
